At Passerine, Pride is more than a party

It’s Pride month, and we’re proud to be a queer-owned business. LGBTQ entrepreneurs are opening their doors to create space for connection, creativity, and belonging.

As the liberating vibes of Pride Month infuse the sunny summer air each June, it’s easy to focus on the joy: Pride parades, Pride parties, rainbow flags, all that allyship and community. The celebrations matter, of course. (And hey, if you know our founder Maneesh, you know we love a good theme party.) But being a queer-owned restaurant in NYC is about more than just celebrating one month of the year.

Like with any small business owner, an LGBTQ+ owned business faces the everyday challenges of building something from the ground up. But then there are the challenges like feeling pressure to stay silent about who you are, navigating bias, or wondering how your identity will be received by customers, investors, or the broader community.

That’s why visibility matters. Representation matters. At Passerine, we’re proud to be queer-owned in NYC. It’s not our only definition, but it’s part of our story. And we believe that restaurants are at their best when they bring people together, foster community, and celebrate the many perspectives that make our neighborhoods vibrant.

This Pride Month, we’re grateful for the support of our guests, our staff, and our community. Thank you for helping make Passerine a place where everyone has a seat at the table. Oh, and stop in to try our Pride Cocktail ASAP—a refreshing summer drink if there ever was one, with Blue Curaçao, Melon liqueur, lavender, citrus, pineapple, and…yes, rainbow sprinkles.
